My Opinion

It is up to us, as parents, to make sure that our children get a good, sound education and that includes an education in sex and sexuality. The schools teach the biology of sex and either promote abstinence or safe-sex with and there doesn't seem to be a middle ground. The parents moral values are not even considered. It is therefore better that we, as parents, teach our children about sex including, our moral values and not those of any government. Our children are bambarded daily through the media with all kinds of sexual innuendo so we have to temper that with our own values and moral outlook.

Sex education usually starts when the child first asks “where do babies come from?” and continues through puberty and early adulthood. In order to be effective we need to start early and to keep those lines of communication open so that our children will come to us with those important questions.

We need to become knowledgable not only about the biology and mechanics of sex but also with pregnancy and birth control, STD's (sexually transmitted diseases), feelings, relationships, values and morals and many other things so that we can impart that knowledge to our children.

There are many places that we can get that information (books, pamphlets, movies and the like), I have chosen to present you with a handful of websites that can guide you along the way to “the talk” with your kids. Many of our moral values are from our religious or philosophical being and also need to be talked about with our children in the course of this education.

With that, on to the links.
